The Little River side
The Little River arm reaches up toward Eatonton, and Little River Park sits right on Highway 441 between Eatonton and Milledgeville. Dennis Station, run by Georgia DNR, is the other access point most people on this side use. Between them, the Putnam shoreline is a long run of creek arms and coves rather than one open sheet of water.
That shape is the reason so many Eatonton docks are covered boathouses set well back off the main lake, and it is why a fair share of our work over here is retro-fitting a lift into a structure that was built first and thought about second.
What that means for your lift
Sheltered water is easier on a boat and easier on a lift, but coves come with their own problem: shallower, siltier water at the back end, and less of it in a dry year. Bunk height and travel matter more here than raw capacity, because the useful range between "floating" and "on the bottom" can be narrower than people expect.
Covered slips also mean overhead structure — and what a roof frame will actually carry is the first thing worth checking before anyone quotes you a lift. If the dock came with the house and you have no paperwork for it, start with the Georgia Power dock rules.
