The quote form
Your name, a phone number and what kind of job it is, because without those we cannot answer you. Everything else is optional: email, town, boat, a description, and up to three photos. Our server also records the address the request came from and which browser sent it, to keep the form from being flooded with junk. We do not use it for anything else.
What we do with it. Answer your request, and do the work if you go ahead. We do not sell it, rent it or trade it, and there is no mailing list to be put on. If the business is ever sold, customer records go with it. If the law required us to hand something over we would have to, and we would tell you if we were allowed to.
Who else touches it
Cloudflare hosts this site and stores your request and your photos. Resend sends the email that reaches us, and — if you gave an address — the confirmation back to you. That confirmation comes from a weliftboats.com address: same business, second domain we own. Our own email provider then holds a copy, the way it holds any email.
Once a job is real, your name and the job go into QuickBooks, which is also where an invoice gets paid. Google Analytics counts page views — it does not see anything you type into the quote form. And if somebody is helping us on your job, they get what they need to find the dock and do the work.
Cloudflare, Resend and QuickBooks hold your details under their own terms, to run the service and nothing else. Google Analytics is the odd one out and gets its own paragraph below.
Photos
Kept for one year, then deleted automatically. Each gets a long random web address that is not published or listed anywhere and is not something anyone can find by looking.
That address goes into the email that reaches us, so it sits in a mailbox and it travels if that mail is forwarded.
A photo you sent does not go on this website or on Facebook unless you tell us it can, and nor does one we took on your job. We ask first, either way.
The calculators
The wire size calculator and the motor troubleshooter do their arithmetic in your browser. Neither one has any code in it that sends anything anywhere — you can check, it is all in the page — and nothing you put into either is attached to a quote request or to anything else we hold.
They do keep what you enter in the page’s web address as you go, after the # — that is what lets “Copy link” hand your electrician a working link instead of a blank form. The part after a # is the one part of a web address that browsers never send to anybody, so those numbers stay on your screen. They do travel inside a link you send or bookmark, which is the point of it.
How long we keep the rest
The written part — your name, your number and what you told us about the job — we keep, so when you call back in three years we can see what that dock needed last time. Ask and we will delete what we hold on our system. Anything tied to work we actually did, invoices and job records, we have to keep for tax and warranty reasons.
Calls and texts. We may call or text you about your request, on the number you gave us. We do not send marketing texts. If that ever changes it will be something you opt into.
Cookies, tracking and location
We set none of our own to follow you around. Google Analytics uses cookies to count visits and Cloudflare may set one to tell a person from a bot. None of them are for advertising, which is why there is nothing here to ask you to accept.
Google Analytics is a third party and it can recognize a browser across other sites that use it; we do not. Google publishes an opt-out add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, and what Google collects on sites using its tools is set out at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
Location. Nothing on this site asks where you are. The map does not either.
If your browser says “do not track.” There is no agreed standard for what a site should do with that signal, so we do not act on it. We do not follow you across other websites either way.
Children
This is a boat lift business. The site is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect anything from anyone under 13.
