Boat lifts in Milledgeville

Milledgeville is the largest city on Lake Sinclair and the closest to the dam. It is also where we are based — most weeks, some of our work is inside Baldwin County.

The dam end of the lake

Sinclair Dam sits at the Baldwin County end, which is where Georgia Power holds the lake back and where the water is at its deepest and widest. Milledgeville frontage covers a lot of ground — open main-lake exposure in places, tucked-away creek arms in others, and the two behave differently once there is a lift and a boat hanging on the dock.

Rocky Creek is one of the feeder creeks on this side, and Rocky Creek Park, Twin Bridges Landing and Haslam’s Marina are the access points most Milledgeville owners know. If you can tell us roughly where you are relative to those, we can usually picture the water before we arrive.

What that means for your lift

Open frontage takes more weather and more wake than a back cove does, and the boat spends more of its life moving on the bunks. That is a bunk-alignment and cable-wear question more than a capacity one — a lift that is slightly out of square will tell you about it much sooner on exposed water than it will up a quiet creek.

Deeper water at the dam end also means the seasonal swing matters. A lift set for summer pool wants checking as levels move; see how the lake level moves through the year.

What we do here

Same three jobs

New installations sized to the boat and the dock, repairs on whatever is already there, and modifications when a dock was never drawn to carry a lift. We are a Boat Hoist USA dealer, and we quote and install the job ourselves.

Milledgeville is a short run for us, so a look at the slip is rarely a scheduling problem.
